The Booster Club is a 501(c)3 not-for profit. Booster club members are welcome to attend monthly meetings the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the KHS natatorium at 6:30 pm. Coaches
Jim Svoboda Head Coach (832) 484-4115 SEND EMAIL
Coach Svoboda has been the Head Coach for Klein Swimming & Diving for 12 years. He is an ASCA Level 5 coach. In the 12 years he has led Klein to 12 district titles (5 Girls – 2012, 2016-2020, 2024; 5 Boys - 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018-
2019), 1 region title (Boys 2013), and 5 top 5 finishes at State (Girls - 2018 4th; Boys – 2013 3rd , 2014 3rd ,
2015 3rd, 2018 5th). He has coached 8 State Champions, and a state record setting relay (400 Free Relay, 2015). He
has also coached 29 All-Americans to 111 All-American Awards. He has been named District Swim Coach of the year 7 times (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2024), and 2 District Dive Coach of the Year (2023-2024); also Regional Coach of the Year three times (2013, 2014, 2019).
Before arriving at Klein High, Coach Svoboda coached 3 years at Chavez High School in Houston ISD. He is an ASCA Level 5 coach, and has also coached USA Swimming for 15 years, where he coached several swimmers to achieve their goals of becoming TAGS Champions, Junior National Qualifiers and National Qualifiers.
Coach Svoboda graduated from the University of Houston with a BS of Kinesiology. He and his wife, Maryanne, have 4 children, JR, Caroline, Rosie, and Luke.
Jessie Steele Asst. Coach (832) 484-4115 SEND EMAIL
Coach Steele has been the Assistant Coach for Klein Swimming & Diving for 2 years. She swam all four years of high school on varsity with Coach Svoboda as her coach (she was his favorite). Coach Steele was a State qualifier in the 100 freestyle and relays.
Coach Steele graduated from the University of Evansville with a BS in Education where she swam in college all four years. She was named MVP her junior and senior year and was a national qualifier.
Dive in and help the Bearkat Swimming and Diving team today, the rewards are refreshing!
